I thought I saw a thread a while back on this issue but can't seem to find it now.
I have developed a lound clunk noise coming from my front end when braking or sometimes after hitting a small bump.
Doesn't happen all the time but has become more frequent in the past few weeks. I have almost 4K miles on the bike and this has just started happening, I mean up until a few weeks ago I never heard it before.
It's hard to describe the sound, definitely metallic and clunk is the best I can come up with. I couldn't find anything loose in the front end or forks.
I was just going to mention it at my 5K maintenance but I'm so concerned that it might be a safety thing that I'm going to make an appointment and take it into the dealer.
Anyone have any info about this? I vaguely remember the thread but I don't recall if there was a positive reason found for it or what the fix was.
Thanks.
I just took mine in for the 5k service and had them do the 'Dyna Clunk' service on it. It's a recall, but not a mandatory one because is isn't a safety issue, just annoying. You should be good to wait until your service, but there's no harm in taking it in early.
Thanks guys ..... will wait to take it in since it isn't a safety issue.
So it's a defective steering head washer.
My first problem, not bad considering a year old bike with around 4K miles on it. Other than this the bike has been perfect!
I had a front end clunking on my 07 Superglide just like you describe and after having the front end tightened, then loosened, it was discovered that the gas tank was loose.
Check your gas tank my lifting up on the front of it!
