WARNING: check your odometer knob/button - before it is too late!!!
Stopped at a localgas station to fill her up so I could put on a couple more hundred in the afternoon before we get 10 straight days of rain.
Go to reset my trip odometer and the rubber **** (which is actually a threaded plastic nut) falls off exposing a threaded switch.
OK I'll just screw it back in - nope - couldn't get it back on - no support behindthe switch - this doesn't look good.
So I head home and as I am trying to put this stupidrubber **** / nut back on using a variety of tools, the freakin' switch falls into the fairing's BLACK HOLE. NO NO NO that didn't just happen. Gone.No where in sight. You gotta be kidding. Exactly what I was trying to avoid. $HIT HAPPENSI guess - now I gotta pull the whole damn fairing off [:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(] SOB.
Yep - lost some valuableriding time today because of this POS cheap A$$ design. I luv Harleys.
Word to the wise - check your **** before this happens to you!!! I had no clue mine was loose.
Oh yeah, and don't use Locktite (blue) for that nut like I did - it'll get into that switch and screw it up (makes it sticky)- then you'll have to soak the switch in contact cleaner.Fun afternoon huh???
Anyone know is there is something that can be done to lock it on (i.e. without using loctite, which doesn't work)?
If it screws on, believe it will screw loose.
