Unfortunately, this is not that uncommon apparently. I recently read an online review of a Street Glide and the same thing happened - although the writer did not notice the button was missing at first so he's not sure when it fell off. And as luck would have it, just a week or so ago, i was looking at an Ultra that a dealer had just taken in trade and it too was missing the button - and the switch. I'm now assuming the switch is hiding down within the fairing somewhere.

Sorry to hear about your ride being cut short! It was a nice day here yesterday. I was cleaning the garage getting ready to fit the Ultra in it. Hopefully next week. I'm on the southeast side of town DChoran where are you?

Thanks gang - guess I'm not theonly one to see THE BLACK HOLE - nice to hear that someone else had to pull their fairing for this too - that it what I like about this forum - somebody has always been there or done that.

Sounds like a HDrecall is definitely in order Let's see, who do we email at the factory???

Note: you can really put some muscle/torque behind this little sucker - it didn't strip with two pairs of pliers.

PK - We bought my wife's parents home when they retired in the nineties - 90 year old house - located in Appleton's truly "INNER CITY" district - up from the PAC about a mile - corner of Spring and Harriman.I'm an R&D engineer at Alcan in Neenah. My rides are limited to weekends.

I'm always looking forplaces to go / day trips.Couple things in mind for this summer - New Glarus Brewery, J&P open house in Anamosa Iowa, Motorcycle Memorial Park in Sturgeon Bay, Mackinaw Bridge,Weyalessing State Park in Prarie Duchane, Point Beach, State HOG rally in Racine..... Any recommendations??? Maybe we can organize a couple local group rides this summer???

if it's still poking out a little, use an awl to stab it or a small pair of needle nose pliers and drag it back out, once out, use the thinnest piece of stiff metal like a 6 inch graduated steel ruler and slide it into the button as close to the fairing as possible to pinch the button between the ruler and the fairing, remove awl/pliers. Now, keep pressure on the ruler and slowly screw the rubber cover on the button.

worked for me.

Man, you're good, or you've got a whole lot more patience than I do. I tried about ten different ways to hold the button in place while screwing on the button, including a method similar to yours, and just couldn't make it work. Finally decided to take off the fairing, which isn't difficult anyway. Would have taken about 1/4 the time if I'd removed the fairing to begin with!

Too bad MOCO doesn't use a plastic insert locknut in the button to keep it from backing off. Wouldn't that be a simple solution??? MOCO, you listening??????? We'd all be willing to pay for the upgrade!

Nah, I think he said when he used thelittle metal ruler to pinch it in place his hole has to be plucked with needle nose to get the **** up. Or was that some other nightmare?
