I was wondering if anybody here has expierience with the Kuryakyn Hi Five air cleaner. I really like it's compact looks and the the element has breathing surface along it's perimeter and the top. It also retains the stock breather assembly (tubes) . This setup seems to be very un-obtrusive and shows more of the cylenders.
Right now I am running a stock box with a stock K&N replacement element. I drilled the back plate with 5 3/8" holes.
No experience with it yet, I like the looks of it too, are you getting the chrome or the mat black? I hear the black one looks great. Do you know if the elements in the hi-five are washable/reusable like the K&N?
I had one on my VTX 1300C and loved it.
However it did stick out too far.
I had to add peg extensions to adjust for the High 5.
Just something worth checking out first, IMO.
if you drill the back plate arent you sucking in unfiltered air
no. The stock filter has a short tube that goes into the backplate which goes right into the intake manifold. Drilling just allows more air to come in around the back to the element before the intake.

The filters are made by K&N according to the Kuryakyn website. Yes, washable and re-useable.

Did you get good performance from the setup? Was it noticeably smaller than the HD football air cleaner?
With the High 5 and Cobra Exhaust I did gain a noticeable increase in performance.
The High 5 is shorter in length than the football. The height is about the same.
However as I remember it did stick out more. I would give Kuryakyn and a HD
Service Dept. a call.
