Default HD Seats: Badlander Vs. Sidekick

So I am considering getting rid of my Sundowner seat, in favor of the Badlander or Sidekick due to it's more contour-friendly looks on the Dyna. Both look almost identical, except for a scarce inch in both seat and pillion width between the two.

Anyone have experience with one or both? Any opinions on comfort factor of each? The price difference is amazing with one at $199, and the other at $369. Is the Sidekick THAT MUCH more comfortable than it's look-alike, less expensive cousin?

I have a sidekick...love it, better then the solo seat actually. And the ladies say the back is pretty good to.

Another option that has worked for me in the past is to send
the seats I like to Mean City Cycles and have them modified
to fit my needs.

I’ve sent my stock FXDB seat and a HD Solo Sundowner
to them with great results. I sit lower now and ride in comfort
on longer rides.

I have both a Sidekick Custom and a Sundowner 2 up seat. Riding by myself, I much prefer the Sidekick. It is a very firm seat, but the shape is good and provide a bit of lower back support. It sits me a bit lower and definitely a bit further back than the stock seat and seemingly WAY lower and further back than the Sundowner. I ride on it almost every day and feel really comfortable on this seat. I didn't know how it would be on a several hundred mile ride until this summer, but I recently used it for a 1,000 mile weekend ride and had no seat related discomfort. I wouldn't even consider it as a true 2 up seat for more than 20 minutes or so, but solo it looks and feels good.

The "Sidekick" has the better profile. It is reasonably comfortable for a few hundred miles for the rider but there is not alot of padding for the passenger, which is fine around town.

The Badlander will make you wish you had bought a differnet seat. But If just going for short trips it is bearable.

Bought the Badlander when I got my Bob. Not very comfortable for me, unbearable for anything more than 20 miles for my wife. Had a local shop strip most of the foam and replace with a better grade. Had them contour the shape forme and they added about 3/4" on each side of the passenger area as well as 3/4" of height there also. Able to re-use the HD cover as there was enough on the underside of the pan. Cost me $75. Rode 85 miles last night and my wife was all smiles when we got home and now only have $275 total in the seat (cost + mods).

the sidekick custom has more padding then the regular sidekick, can anyone speak on the custom? wonder if the extra padding in that one helps?
