Some people put them on the lower triple tree. They are generally pretty small. Dont know how this is done though.

The previous owner of my Fattie installed the ones in the photo. He needed to relocate the signals because of the (lack of) clearance between the drag bars and the tank. I wouldn't recommend the way he did it though. He drilled holes in the accent strip about an inch above the bottom screw, and has them attached with a hollow spacer that's threadded on both sides. On the plus side he was able to run the wiring through the spacer so it's concealed. On the minus side it's only held on by a thin lock nut that's prone to coming loose and is almost impossible toget a wrench onto tighten.

I'm planning to install my new signals right over the bottom accent screw. GHill69 did it with his '03 Fattie and it looks great. The trick is to find a hex head screw that is just the right length for the job. You disassemble the turn signal, run the screw from the inside, through a spacer, and into the hole for the accent panel, then pop the turn signal back together and wire it with some thick insulation so it tucks right under the fork tins. You're basically replacing the bottom panel screw with a custom turn signal. The other thing I may look into is making a little "tab" with countersunk holes on opposite ends and sides that would allow mounting of the turn signals then mounting to the accent panel screw.

Has anybody else tried anything different or come across a product that works?

Beepo, that is exactly what I'm thinking about doing. Only more solidly mounted than you said yours are. I wonder if the accent bolt and turn signal bolt are the same size? If so I could cut the head off a bolt just the right length and let the turn signal be the nut that tightens everything up. Doubt I'll be that lucky, but I'm going to look into it. I would like to keep the turn signals I have, at least for now. Thanks for everyones help.

I think the only issue you may run into will be having enough room inside your turn signal housing for the screw head. I was told to find a hex bolt with the proper lenght and thread size because it was going to be tricky tightening everything up. Good luck and let us know how you make out. I can't try it yet untill my new accent strips arrive (like I said, the last owner drilled holes in the ones that are on now...)

Got around to changing my front signals last night. It wasn't TOO hard, but I did have to get a little creative.

The lights I wanted to install were threaded to receive the same bolt as the forks (5/16x24) so I hit the hardware store, bought a couple of the proper bolts, cut the heads off so that I was left with an inch of thread. Then I used the red Loctite on the end that went into the signal, and blue Loctite on the end that went into the forks, spun it a ways into the signal, threw on the spacer, then spun the whole assembly into the fork quick enough to tighten everything down before the Loctite started to set. I should now have my front signals essentially also be my lower accent strip screws.

I think they look great. Excuse the crappy picture. It's pouring outside andmy garage isn't the best photo studio...

Looks nice, can you get another pic of one from the top so it shows how close they are to the fork leg?
