Default Airshock question for street bob

I want to do the Airshocks on my street bob...and a few posts it was said some rubbing may occur....

Just wondering what all is a clearance issue or any issues to install them

The rubber boot comes in contact with the belt guard, but you can trim the top of the boot even with the shock housing, like in below photo.
More information on the air shocks here: https://www.hdforums.com/m_2372126/tm.htm

Mine never rubbed.I've had my belt guard off and it looks like you can move it around a little playing with the washers and the mounting tabs.

Is there any way to keep the bike stock height when riding?
I already scrape the exhaust on 20 mph right hand turns...
dont need it to be worse but still want the air ride

If you use the standard Electraglide shocks it will be a little taller than stock and will actually scrape less.

What's the deal with the airhoses for the shocks ? do you need to have them or can you set the pressure on each so there are no lines ?
What sort of oil is used in them ?
thanks

The rubbing I got was on the belt cover. I have the shorter shocks which may have hit more that Ed's longer shocks. You would have to space the shock out a little to keep it from hitting. I just removed the belt cover.

You can supply the air in two different ways.

One way is to put a single valve on each shock. You can find the valves at your local hardware store near the air tools. They are only a couple bucks.

I used these because I had to order the air line kit from HD and wanted to get these shocks mounted.

I don't like the single valvesas much because it's a little harder to get both shocks filled evenly unless you have the special pump.

The second way is to order the air line kit from HD which is $30.00 and you barely get enough line to do it. I installed the valve under the seat and ran the lines under the struts. One side was a little longer, but the other side just made it.

I am thinking about selling these if anyone is interested. I need parts for my other bike and need money more than I need these shocks. PM or Email if interested. I will sell the shocks with less than 75 miles on them AND the air lines.
