Default HQ Build coming to Houston Area; with PhilM as the builder

Hey all,
I know there has been interest in observing/helping/learning a HQ build.... Well as most know Manish aka Rod is doing an HQ 95 build. this is an opportunity for this area to join in. We have the great PhilM making an appearance to perform the build. As of now it looks to be Dec 7th and 8th pending reciept of the components from Bart. So if your interested stay tuned for updates..... Oh yeah this weekend the DTT gets installed since I was able to get the bungs welded on today.......

Speak up or forever hold your peace.....

Hi,
Where did you get your bungs welded at? I've read I could have it done at a muffler shop if I take me exhaust to them, but I haven'thad the time to check on it with any in my area. Did they mig or tig them in? I have both a mig and tig welder an am thinking about doing it myself but I want to make sure they are installed properly so that is one reason I am asking. My Thunder max should be here next week, I will need to getit done or do it myself after I receive it so I can get the right placement so they do not hit anything on my 06 Ultra. Sounds like you have a great build coming up, good luck and keep us posted with pictures if possible. I appreciate any info you can provide, my motor is still stock but plan to do some upgrades next winter season, the Tmax took a big bite out of my budget for this season.

Hey now, Phil. I bought parts from you... I should get help first. LOL That is a great thing to do. Any way you guys could put it on DVD and send it to me. I would love to see it being done. Unfortunately, I have no one in the area that would be willing to help me. Trust me, I have been hinting for months. NM weather is great, if ya need to take a trip.

The bungs are tig welded in place. Take the extra time and verify that the bung position will not interfere with anything including the heat shield and clamps. I have a full weld shop at work so I had it slipped in. From my understanding exhaust shops will do it. If you have a tig do it yourself. just take your time and flow the metal. clean with scotch brite and BAM your done.

I am also in the middle of my first HQ build. I am glad I have found this forum. I have talked with Phil, great guy.
Papa are you going to do it yourself? I found that it wasn't that difficult to remove the cyl's. I didn't even have to use anything special. Bob

Yep, over at Manish's crib over in Dickinson down 45S towards Galveston. Its about 40 minutes from me (Sugar Land). The best thing is you will see it off of the stand.

I've already talked to Rod about this little venture, sounds like it's going to be a good meet and greet as well as a great learning opportunity. Fortunate for me is Rod (Manish) doesn't live but about 10 minutes away.

I hope his wife doesn't mind all the extra company...

See ya there,
Phil
