Ok lets say you had the choice to do any mod you already heave again what would it be. Mine would either be my pipe's, winged oil tank covers, Or the SE carb top.

$520.00 an change - SE AC, Dina Jet Kit, SE II pipes.

Happy with the job, especially since the 06 air filter is a redesign over the 05 - should say I was happy.

Doing ythe bar change over last month, I had to remove the AC to get to the carbs in rerouting them. Witht he AC off, I found one of the two breather holes in the bolts that hold on the back plate, colged with Lock tight[:@] = rear cylinder had no way to breath - if it needed to - thank goodness I found this before I damaged anything

That wasn't as much as i thougt it would have been because i paid just a little over 400$ for SE AC, SE II, SE plugs and wires, SE carb top and SE timing cover and a rejet. but that meant they estimated the job at about 2 hours which seems high to me because it took me about a hour but that locktight thing must have sucked good thing you caught it in time.

You mean if I were to start over from scratch? Not hard. In order of importance:

1. Seat
2. SE II
3. SE AC
4. Jet kit (if 2 & 3 done)
5. Progressive shocks
6. Progressive fork springs
7. Stainless steel/teflon front brake line
8. Chrome goodies

My problem? Number 8 got in the way of numbers 5 through 7.

The order I would do things in if I had to all over again:
1. Slip-ons or pipes (gotta get the sound first!) - I got the Cycle Shack turnouts, then there's the SEII or S&S, pipes from V&H, Bassani, RB Racing...
2. Seat (stockers suck) - love my Sundowner, others love that, Corbin, LePera, Mustang...
3. air cleaner and rejet (basically finish up Stage 1) - I got the S&S air cleaner, others like SE (I don't), Forcewinder, Ness Big Sucker, Kuryakyn (ok, I guess, but I'm not a fan of the design)... I bought my 45 jet for $5.12 from the stealer, including tax, and did the work myself...
4. Progressive shocks - I got the 11" 412s cuz I wanted to go lower, others want the stock height, or even higher, for clearance while doin' twisties...
5. Progressive fork spring kit - amazing difference in handling and no more front end dive - did it with 15w BelRay oil...
6. Bling as ya go along (favorite so far, really, is the headlight trim ring - it really made the bike look longer and leaner - weird how a small thing made a big difference)... Oh, and I ditched the fork and side reflectors early on - really cleaned things up (and if somone was gonna broadside me, I didn't think reflectors would help much...)
My 2 cents!

I AM doing it all over! Off come the SE II's (that replaced my Cycle Shack Tappereds), S&S A/C, and rejet. Going back to pure bone stock to keep my neighbors happy. I do want to upgrade the seat though, but I'm so torn as to which one to get!

Dan: I would not have changed the stock handgrips to those chrome/flamed monsters. They are too big, too hot here in the summer and can be slippery at times. They are the only piece of "chrome" I have ever installed on either Sportster and were a total mistake. ........ BC
