Default PCIII-Fuel PAK-SERT

OK got the SE a/c kit and Python (BSS) pipes - I cant put them on till I have decided on how I am going to modify the ECU for the changes.

I have read a few posts, did some searches but still cant make up my mind. Please let me know which product you have (or used) on your EFI Dyna's and what you like and dont like about them.

Thanks
Alex

I decided to go with the SERT and I'm glad I did. The SERT allows you to modify the settings in your ECM. With the others, you get a piggyback device that alters the output of the ECM. I like the functionality of the SERT, the ability to use data mode to record everything going on inside my engine and to see exactly what each sensor is doing. The SERT is a little more technical, but it's fun to use and made my bike run a lot better.

I did the factory download, and wish I would have gotten the SERT. I talked to a non biased HD mech from back home, and he had a very unfavorable opinion of the PCIII. Fuel Pak, DFO.....they are good I guess, but for a little more you can have a SERT, and it seams to be the cats a$$

OK so far the SERT is looking like the popular choice. I am a Network Geek so the computer part doesnt scare me but going too lean and burning a piston up does. does it have and safe guards that tell you "hey idiot that is too lean" or something to that affect? I'm not afraid to turn a wrench but I dont want to F up my bike

If you plan on just simple mods like exhaust, intake cams fuel pack is good but if you plan on getting more in depth performance mods go with the sert.

I went with the P3, I’m running the SEII with SE backing plate and K&N filter with no HD down load The main reason I went with the PC is that I can remove it with no till tell signs. I all so had it dyno, and this set up ran $427 labor, tax and all. Bike runs great

Right now I sm thinking I will go with PCIII because I can drop teh need for the O2 sensor. Is this the case with the SERT? How much does SERT cost and how does it differ?

i think i'm offically going w/ the sert. two reasons, i'm gonna have harley install and dyno it so if any thing goes wrong wrong i can blame them, two it keeps the o2sensors and iguess usethem for fine tuning( not sure but their not elimanated) it's going to cost a bit more but its definately wroth it. especially when next year i get rid of the seII slip on for a full exhaust. i think that i'm going to have them do it when i get the recall done on the 20th. thank you mastercard!

I don't like the fact that the PCIII drops the o2 sensors. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a limited-self adjusting closed loop system, right? Why not use those o2 sensors to your advantage and hop up the fuel map with a sert? The diagnistic logging feature of the sert alone is worth the price which is only about $100 more then the PC III. Just my opinion....

Got to agree with the others about keeping the O2 sensors. Lots of people think of them as "just EPA garbage" and that's not really true. Yeah, they can be a used in the manner of smog control, but you can change that with a sert and use them to your advantage. They are a good tool that your ECM uses to keep your engine running according the map you have installed. Even if they are narrow-band, lots of things can affect your AFR - altitude, fuel quality, air temp, etc.. and the O2 sensors only help your ecm make corrections.
