Cams worth it w/out head work?
An indy wrench I know says that a cam change is not worth the trouble unless you also do head/cylinder work (mainly due to valve limitations). Opinions?
I had new cams did it mainly to get rid of the chain driven, as I went to gear driven. \\; Yes, I did get to feel the difference in the seat of my pants. \\; Since the scoot has almost 68K miles, I will be doing the top end over the winter, and getting headwork done, which should really show what new cams can do.

Find another indy! I installed cams with no headwork, no valve work and no adj pushrods. Was it worth it?
You bet! Just don't go with extreme cams and you will be pleased and still have the durability and reliability of before but with a smile on your face! Just my 2 cents![sm=biker2.gif]

what these guys said... you don't need to do headwork.... just make sure you don't get too radical a cam, and you'll be fine.... i have HQ TC-500s, and no head work ....a HUGE difference in performance.... i intend on doing headwork over the summer, however

I'm thinking along the same lines but wondering if I should wait and do it all at once. Any engine noise difference?
