Ok, so I was in a hurry. Still looking for something more permanent but I rigged this up last Sunday for scoot around town.

It's a rubber armored case from Radio shack that has the belt clip thingy with a push button release like on a cell phone holster.

6 ft cord also from Radio Shack. Wanted the 1 ft cord but they only had it in gray instead of the black that blends in better.

Zip tied the cord to the wiring from throttle assembly and then zip tied the quick release clip to the handle bars running the zip tie through the whole where a handlebar mounted mirror would normally go.

Zip here, snip there, plug this in, turn that on and as our neighbors down under say " Bob's your Uncle" and I had the Ipod Nano rigged to my Street Glide.

Ipod does not swing around and the zip tie keeps the fixed back of the top of the clip pinned against the inside of the throttle assembly so you just have to push the little button to release the Ipod.

If I don't find a shorter black cord I will just wind this one tightly and shrinkwrap it in black to clean it up some.

You get off the bike, push the button and unplug the Ipod, throw it in a pocket and you're are on your way.

Probably too much vibration for the hard drive driven Ipods but perfect fit for the Nano or Shuffle.

Not to shabby, hey is that all you need to play the IPOD through the radio? That one cable I see on there running to the radio?

 

For the 06's that cable is the only thing that you need to plug the IPOD in to the radio.

05 Harley stereo has the aux jack as well.

 

I just did the same thing with my mp3 player. It's not a nano but a 2GB flash player, very small. I got a small cell phone case and zip tied the belt clip to the handlebars and ran a wire to the aux jack in front of the radio. If anyone wants pics I will post them.

 

So no ear phones then hey? You just listen through your stereo speakers. Is the jack on the stereo and input? I thought it was an output and I would have to get something like a transister to make it an input.

Primo, I did the same as you. I used a black rubber case that had a belt clip attachment. I used a formotion "clip it" mount

and mounted it on the left side so I could adjust it and ride with the throttle hand (be very careful, usually on shuffle and only adjustment is to forward a song). I used a three foot cord but I ran it through the left side of the fairing at the hole for the handlebars, around the inside and then back out the ride side of the handlebars, to the front into the aux plug. The bonus of the clip it is that the ipod comes off quickly and I can take in anytime I am off the bike.

Just shorten the cable. I know Best buy does carry a 1 ft long black cable. If not cut, solder, shrink wrap and done....

 

I have this iPod mount one on my bike. It mounts on the switch housing and uses the top torx head bolt on the right switch housing. This way you can work you iPod with you thumb. This is where I bought it. http://www.2wheeltunes.com/radio_mounts.htm
I also have a retractable cord that goes from the radio to the Ipod, no slack to jack with. It's made by Belkin, cost 20.00.
