I know I need to get the maintainance and parts manual for my bike, but the dealer is temporally out of stock. Need to remove outer cover of fairing, so I can get to my gauges to change out that "air temp" gauge, and change the speakers. Is it a simple proceedure, or do I need to wait on the manual for illustrations of the removal?

Remove the front blinkers (4 bolts), remove the 6 TORX screws (three on each side, looking from the inner fairing), drape a towel over your front fender, lift straight up on the outer fairing, and then unplug the connectors from the head lights (squeeze the clips & pull). No need to remove teh windshield, it comes off w/the fairing....
When you go to put it back on, notice the two hooks the extend forward from near teh radio frame. The notches above the headlamps hang on these hooks...
