Rode an 07 Softail Springer Classic today
Buddy of mine recently bought a 2007 Softail Springer Classic, in black. I had the opportunity to ride it today, it had a little over 1000 miles on the clock and was nicely broken in. I was able to ride it around town on surface streets, as well as on the freeway. Freeway cruising between 60-90 mph. It's a nice bike. Watching the springer front end work is pretty cool. The bike steers lightly and accelerated well. The suspension is slightly on the taught side. The bike is very stable in high speed turns and in cross winds at highway speeds. 6 sp tranny is nice, as is the improved low-end torque compared to a stock TC88. The counter-balanced rigid mount motor is very smooth. I like the auto-arming security system. The lines of the bike are very clean.
I COULD NOT WAIT to get back on my bagger. The rubber mount non-balanced motor, the batwing, windscreen, the highway pegs on the crash bars, that air ride cop bike solo seat, riding position, floor boards, suspension..... what a HUGE difference. The springer was very cool, arguably better in many ways, but I would not trade my electra glide for it, no way, no how! [sm=shades.gif]
"I have a 2000 FLHTPI. I recently rode a buddy's 07 Springer Classic. The counter-balanced Springer's TC96 was smooth as butter. COULD NOT wait to get back on my rubber mounted TC88...
Posted a thread about this in the touring section a few days back. No one cared LOL "
