Everyone has heard of Hiro Koiso and his Bonnieville records, but Jeff Bates is a great tuner as well. Although Jeff has since moved to the new Redrock store, both of these guys really know their way around a SERT map.

Good luck with your build mikestreet. Don't give up on your bike...it looks like you have a nice build. You just need to find someone to perform a little magic on the laptop and dial it in properly. Feel free to use my dyno sheet for comparison purposes.

It looks like I need to get mine dialed in a little since we have the same set up and they say my # are what to expect here in SLC, I get around 38-40 MPG but I run fr 4000-8000 feet above sea level and a lot at 80 MPH. It's too hot to get dn to Vegas right now but maybe this fall fora tune. Thanks.

Here's the dyno on my old 103 build - the Wood 6-6 is a great cam!
I had basically the same build as yours (basic Harley 103 kit with flat tops and a PC III) but with Rinehart true duals. You should have better numbers than mine.

PS - I see that you are running 10.5 compression. That should make those cams sing - even better numbers. Totally agree that you need to find a better tuner.

gmc, They told me I could have easily obtained 100/100 with 2-into-1 pipes, but I wanted true duals. Also, you don't need to wring out every last drop of power. My bike was actually "de-tuned" slightly to deal with heat and PING in the summer. If you do call LVHD, talk to Rudy (service writer.) He will treat you right.

With that build you should be able to get at least 38-40MPG. I have a build close to yours and get get about that rinding 80+ on freeway with 4-5 cold starts per tank. Get a retune.

Well, it looks like my suspicions are confirmed here. There are too many dyno sheets out there with significantly better numbers. It looks as though I'm getting the same performance as a well tuned stage 2!

2 problems:

1. Anyone approached a dealer about retuning/refunds on a tune? They claim anyone can say anything on the internet and generally dismiss it as a reliable source.
2. How do I find a good tuner in San Diego?

PS- Thanks for all your responses

I agree with most of what has been said with regard to the tune in question here.

As far as the W6 being too small for a 103... BS!

One other thing that has not been questioned is, what exactly does "mild head work" mean. I have seen budget headwork flat kill a motor (worse then stock heads). Just as easy as a "good" set of heads can make a motor sing, a butchered set can destroy the performance of one.

As Carl (& others) have mentioned, get the tune right (should see 40+ mpg) so you don't hurt you motor ~ this is important. Many think rich is better than lean... that is certainly debatable.

Good luck!

Lookup Bob @ RC Cycles. He's in Ca. somewhere and is one of the best out there.

A lot of the Independents use Hyper-Sports in Oceanside. But I don't know if he does SERT's. http://www.nchypersports.com/
