Default Power for Lighted Plate Frame

Searching yielded no chewable info, I want to relocate the plate using the softbrake kit. I will need to tap some power for a lighted plate frame.

Question being where is the closest and least destructive place to get accessory power back there? I believe I'd need to bypass the tail light housing since I want the light to be steady, not toggling bright to dim when the brakes are applied.

Any assist is appreciated.

Just need to tap into the tail light wires inside the tail light housing. Don't remember the colors of the wires off hand. I used the same one on my Heritage.

When you get it done, show us some pictures!

There's a connector panel inside the tail lamp. You can test each connector socket with a testlight for the running lights and connect your license plate frame light wires. I have the same frame.

Get a Service Manual for instructions and the wiring diagram. It really helps.

Use the one that powers the license plate bulb when you take your tailight lens off you will clearly see the wire leading to the license plate bulb.....

I'll throw a fluke meter on it and take it from here. I was just curious what the survey said about using the the housing wires or running new.

I appreciate the replies. Gratitudus extremus.

I installed a pair of led lights on my axle mounted plate holder. First I soldered long enough wires to reach under the seat and shrink wrapped them and ran them on the back side of the swing arm. Then I stripped a small section off the end and wedged the wires in the connection harness running to the rear lights and secured it with electrical tape.
