License Plate lighting.....

Hey guys, need some help here, I eliminated my rear grab bar on my 06 Ultra, installed a curved flush mount license plate frame to the rear fender about 2 inches above my tail light lens....problem is at night the plate is in the dark....zero light from the stock tail light lens...was hopeing for at least some illumination....but I'm not getting any. The plate frame has no visible mounting bolts (everthing bolted from underside of fender) I can't even use the small button type lights that also secure the plate to the frame.

Maybe replace the tail light lens with one that has the clear window on the bottom instead of the top?

The plate is above the tail light and below where the plate was originally located...it has a clear lens on top...just not enough light to illuminate up the curve of the fender...
