2005 Twin cam 88b, started loosing power badly today and emptied oil tank. Pulled allen plug on crankcase and emptied over 2 quarts of oil. Refill oil tank and ride down road and lost power again and oil tank is almost empty again. I havent run into this, it is a high compression \\; 95 inch gear drive cam set up. Any thoughts?
Scavenge side of the pump is not working..... Either the o-ring has failed, the gerotor has failed, or there is a blockage in the return (Highly unlikely on the blockage).....

How long ago was the bottom end serviced????
Engine has 13k miles on bottem end, cam install was done 4200 miles ago. I figure its and oil pump problem but i dont have much experience on how it operates on these. I am a car mechanic by trade.
I'm in agreement with Shovelhead Bob. \\; \\; O-rings are leaking. \\; Four o-rings in cam chest, Two on the oil pump and two that seal the cam plate to the crankcase. \\; Remove the exhaust. remove the cam chest cover, remove all the screws from the cam plate and pull the cam plate out. \\; Pull the oil pump out, but take note of the order of the gears, spacers and wave washer. \\; Replace the o-rings and reassemble.
Post me your email address and I will send you a pdf that includes an exploded view of the oil pump.
If you don't already have quick install push rods I suggest you use the new Harley tappered quick install kit. It has all the o-rings and new tubes and push rods included in the kit. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Cost about $160. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Saves you from removing the tank and rocker box covers. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; The tappered push rods are less likely to rub the upper push rod tube.
