2020 Harley Touring Lineup like Nothing Else, Says Motorcycle
There’s nothing that screams America more than the 2020 Harley FL touring lineup, which is clearly better than ever.
In our minds, there’s nothing more distinctly American than the big, comfy, touring motorcycles produced by Harley. And clearly, we aren’t alone. In this recent review from Motorcycle, the rag goes into extreme detail covering all the many aspects of Harley’s 2020 touring lineup that make them so unique. And they do a great job of summing up why Americans love these big old hogs so much.
Harley’s 2020 touring lineup starts with the Road Glide Limited, which Motorcycle calls the “cool new touring bike” for 2020. And like all of this model year’s offerings, it comes packed with all sorts of interesting new tech. The biggest news is the new Reflex Defensive Rider Systems (RDRS) package, which is basically an advanced form of traction control.
RDRS consists of a host of individual features. Cornering Enhanced Electronic Linked Braking (C-ELB) links the front and rear brakes. The Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS) is designed to prevent the rear wheel from excessive spinning under acceleration when going straight or cornering. The Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS) and Cornering Enhanced Drag-Torque Slip Control System (C-DSCS) are designed to reduce excessive rear-wheel slip under deceleration. And finally, Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) applies and holds brake pressure when activated and prevents the motorcycle from rolling after the rider has released the brake controls.
Add it all together, and these new features help the Road Glide Limited defy the laws of physics, according to Motorcycle. “How a motorcycle this big can be such a hoot on tight backroads is hard to figure, but it is. And the addition of seven more cubic inches of Milwaukee-Eight, along with the aforementioned rider aids, makes it more fun than ever. A line of these things running down a swervy backroad feels like riding in a brightly colored high-speed freight train that can lean.”
Our reviewer fell in love with the RGL, that is, until they rode the new CVO Limited. Which they found to be even more comfy on the road. “This one’s got a thicker seat that feels like it’s stuffed with cool air and hummingbird feathers; it’s exceedingly comfortable.” Or, if you care more about having “confident fun” on the backroads, there’s the CVO Street Glide. It features what Motorcycle calls “iconic”styling, for starters. Some staffers even preferred it to the excellent BMW K1600B. Finally, we have the CVO Tri-Glide, which impressed Motorcycle for its smoothness on straight roads.
In conclusion, Motorcycle admits that they’re not devoted fans of some modern Harley bikes. However, they can’t help but show their enthusiasm for these big old hogs. “When it comes to these FL touring rigs, there’s really nothing else quite like them in the world,” Motorcycle said. “And there really isn’t another motorcycle out there as well attuned, as hardwired into the American psyche, as these things. Right now in US history, a CVO looks like as good an investment as anything. As well as an excellent thing to ride.” And if that isn’t a ringing endorsement, we don’t know what is.
