The most iconic motorcycle brand in the world, Harley-Davidson, has recently made an announcement that many of its loyal customers will find shocking.

In an interview with the Milwaukee Business Journal, Sean Cummings, Harley-Davidson’s senior vice-president of global demand, mentioned that the famed motorcycle manufacturer will in fact offer electric motorcycles to consumers within five year’s time. That being said, the Harley-Davidson LiveWire all-electric motorcycle project has been undergoing constant progress for over a year now, so the time frame could be quite realistic.

Harley-Davidson is perhaps better known for its loud, rambunctious American Hogs, which fans and no-fans alike can recognize from miles away, so imagine the culture shock that it will be for people when they can no longer hear a Harley from afar?

Cummings hinted that most of the research and development has been done, and maybe even that a fully-electric bike like the LiveWire could already be on showroom floors, but that Harley has chosen to not go into full-production until further notice.

What do you think, is an electric Harley—a real Harley?
