Watch UFC Fight Night with Your Fellow Harley-Davidson Owners

Harley-Davidson is about more than just motorcycles. It goes beyond badass leather jackets and cool boots. Harley-Davidson is also about spending time with friends at meetups, chatting about bikes, and going on rides and seeing the sights of the city around you and the countryside in the distance.

Later this month, you can join your Harley-Davidson-riding pals in watching UFC fights at select U.S. dealerships. On the evening of Friday, December 30, San Diego Harley-Davidson, Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale, and Frazier’s Harley-Davidson in Buford, Georgia will host UFC viewing parties. Activities vary by location; some of them at the San Diego H-D location include contests, a dealer demo, and a raffle. H-D Scottsdale will be auctioning off a motorcycle. (Hit this link for more info.)

Of course, the main attraction of the night is the fight between Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey, the top-ranked female bantamweight fighter in the UFC, and Amanda “The Lioness” Nunes, the defending female bantamweight champion. You’ll definitely be able to see the action on all of the screens, but it may be a little hard to hear Joe Rogan’s play-by-play commentary because everyone watching will probably be shouting instructions at and cheering on their favorite fighter. This is a big fight for Rousey, who suffered her only UFC defeat at the hands…er…foot of Holly Holm late last year, who gave a Rousey a fight-ending kick to the side of her neck. Ouch.

The great thing is that even if you don’t live near one of the participating dealerships, you can still get your friends together to watch the duel at your place or your favorite bar. No matter which woman comes out on top at the end of UFC 207, you’ll win.

Derek Shiekhi's father raised him on cars. As a boy, Derek accompanied his dad as he bought classics such as post-WWII GM trucks and early Ford Mustang convertibles.

After loving cars for years and getting a bachelor's degree in Business Management, Derek decided to get an associate degree in journalism. His networking put him in contact with the editor of the Austin-American Statesman newspaper, who hired him to write freelance about automotive culture and events in Austin, Texas in 2013. One particular story led to him getting a certificate for learning the foundations of road racing.

While watching TV with his parents one fateful evening, he saw a commercial that changed his life. In it, Jeep touted the Wrangler as the Texas Auto Writers Association's "SUV of Texas." Derek knew he had to join the organization if he was going to advance as an automotive writer. He joined the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) in 2014 and was fortunate to meet several nice people who connected him to the representatives of several automakers and the people who could give him access to press vehicles (the first one he ever got the keys to was a Lexus LX 570). He's now a regular at TAWA's two main events: the Texas Auto Roundup in the spring and the Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall.

Over the past several years, Derek has learned how to drive off-road in various four-wheel-drive SUVs (he even camped out for two nights in a Land Rover), and driven around various tracks in hot hatches, muscle cars, and exotics. Several of his pieces, including his article about the 2015 Ford F-150 being crowned TAWA's 2014 "Truck of Texas" and his review of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, have won awards in TAWA's annual Excellence in Craft Competition. Last year, his JK Forum profile of Wagonmaster, a business that restores Jeep Wagoneers, won prizes in TAWA’s signature writing contest and its pickup- and SUV-focused Texas Truck Invitational.

In addition to writing for a variety of Internet Brands sites, including JK Forum, H-D Forums, The Mustang Source, Mustang Forums, LS1Tech, HondaTech, Jaguar Forums, YotaTech, and Ford Truck Enthusiasts. Derek also started There Will Be Cars on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
