Events: Harley & Ozzy, a Perfect Combo, Aug. 9 at Sturgis
Go off the rails on a crazy train–in the best way possible–when Ozzy Osbourne headlines ‘largest music festival in motorcycling,’ Aug. 9.
If you love heavy metal and shiny chrome, you’re going to want to be sure to steer your Harley to Sturgis Buffalo Chip this year, because the event’s organizers have announced the event’s concert headliner, and it’s the coolest guy in rock and roll: the “Prince of F**kin’ Darkness” himself, Ozzy Osbourne.
The “Crazy Train” singer and Black Sabbath legend will return to western South Dakota on August 9, when the mighty double O will rock Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s Wolfman Jack Stage with hits like “Bark at the Moon,” “I Don’t Wanna Stop” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”
After recently completing Black Sabbath’s final tour earlier this year, the “Godfather of Heavy Metal” made sure to include Sturgis as one of just a handful of shows on his first solo U.S. tour in six years.
“You never know what to expect with Ozzy, but you can be sure it will be over the top,” says Rod Woodruff, president of Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “He puts on an incredible show and this is one of those performances you just can’t miss. You may not have another opportunity to see this legend live on stage.”
Adding further excitement for music fans is the fact that the new tour will also see Osbourne reuniting with his longtime on-again/off-again guitarist, the iconic Zakk Wylde.

The annual Sturgis Buffalo Chip motorcycle rally — aka “The Largest Music Festival in Motorcycling” — returns to South Dakota’s Black Hills, August 4-13. Passes for Osbourne’s August 9 concert event also include hooligan races a street drag invitational and a “Motorcycles as Art” exhibit.
Other notables set to rock the 2017 Sturgis fest include a good mix of classic and contemporary bands, including the Doobie Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Shinedown, Alter Bridge and pop-punk hit-makers Blink 182. Get the full run down here.
