Will You Ride or Trailer Your Motorcycle to Sturgis?
The big, Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is almost upon us and you know what that means…time to RIDE! Or is it time to drive? Last year I passed so many trucks hauling motorcycles to Sturgis, I seriously wondered if that really counts as making the annual pilgrimage to the Black Hills of South Dakota?
The same could be said about my ride out to Laconia, New Hampshire from Milwaukee, Wisconsin this year. There were not nearly as many bikers on the road, but I saw plenty of trucks hauling them all around New England.
Getting there is the best part, right? The destination is fun and all, but after a few days of raising hell, I’m ready to get back on the road and ride some more. Helmet, no helmet, just a tank full of gas and no particular place to go.
Loading your motorcycle or motorcycles on the back of a pickup seems like a boring way to see America. I met plenty of folks who said they have already “done” the ride to Sturgis and just want to ride around the Black Hills? Are they bikers, vacationers or both?
Last year’s ride to Sturgis from Los Angeles, California was pretty spectacular for me. The best part was riding into South Dakota surrounded by hundreds of bikers. After a couple days of riding, I felt like I was with family again.
What are you riding or driving this year?
