Greenwood Pioneer Cemetery is the oldest extant burial ground in Cañon City.
Woodpecker Hill is a name given by the inmates to Greenwood Cemetery. The Greenwood Cemetery is burial grounds for inmates who perished and did not have family who was able or willing to claim their remains. There are approximately 600 burials at Greenwood Cemetery/Woodpecker Hill. About 250 of the graves are unmarked except for a little plaque that says, CSP Inmate (Colorado State Penitentiary Inmate). Apparently, woodpeckers would peck at bugs on these plaques until they were completely ruined, thus the name Woodpecker Hill (Newman, 2008).

I been checking this a couple times a day waiting for this cemetery challenge and still missed it. Cemetery, bridges, tunnels, towers, abandon stuff, I'm all in to that kind of stuff.
