Besides the specs show in the catalog, anyone have both a pre 14 and 14 and up Sundowner that could comment. I have had one of the pre 14's since 2008 and was thinking about getting a new one.
I had one that I put on my '06 Nightrain when I wanted to tour with a passenger... I had an upholsterer add a waffle gel pad in the middle of my seat (rider's). I rode 5500 miles with it on a bucket list trip.
I have one for my '14 RK... and a brawler that you see in the pic below. I actually like this one better and it doesn't have any added seat padding.. I rode it across the USA when I moved to Utah. No problem.
I have one on our '03 FLHRC and on the '14 FLHSX. On the RK, it's the main saddle and I ride with an Alaska Leather Sheepskin. Very comfortable, especially when it's HOT! Wife likes the Sundowner padding thickness, too. Bike and seat have 60K and still great.
On the SGS, I find that the Sundowner raises me up an extra 1/2 inch (Seat width) and, unless we ride 2 up, I prefer the stock seat height and the Harley ventilated seat pad for solo riding. But, passenger padding is good on both older and newer model.
