Default 1000 required check-up (required?)

I have been riding my new bike on several back-to-back trips and was worried that I may need to leave it behind for this coming weekend since it has surpassed 1300 miles and by the time I get back I may add another 1000 miles. How far can I push something like this?

Don't think there's a definitive answer on this. If you go 2300 miles and nothing ever happens you're good, if something happens mechanically they might look to point fingers and assign blame, maybe try to deny a warranty claim. I was about 200 miles over on my 1K service, I called they dealer before and they said no problem. You might want to call the dealer...

I think the really important thing is to check the critical fasteners, nothing was loose on mine and the Moco does a good job, but they need to be checked to see if any came loose or were not tight to begin with. The first 1000 miles is a shake down test.

My motor mounts were loose at 1k.

It only takes an hour to change your fluids and check.

I had a trip planned so I asked the dealer, he said better to do the 1k service before 1k. He said anywhere from 700 miles up. Whether I did it myself or they did it

My dealer told me that it would be better to have AT LEAST 1000 miles on it. He suggested that I not bring it in early for the 1000 mile check.

Change the oil buddy and look around and see if anything is shaken loose

I had a trip coming up as well and decided to do the 1k so I didn't have to think about it during the trip.

All the torque/tightness checks were fine.

The crankcase & tranny oil were not very dirty.
The primary drain plug had more debris then I expected and the fluid looked nasty. Dealer's service tech looked a photo and it looked "normal".

It took me a lot longer than an hour as someone else stated, but I wasn't in a hurry.
The worst IMO was the rear brake resevoir cover screws, tough to get to.

If you are able, go ahead and do it yourself, save $$ and know it was done.
