I've been looking at the 10" for winter and long trips, but can't find any comparison in height compared to stock.

Stock didn't really work at all because the top of the shield fell right at eye level. I haven't asked to see if my dealer has a demo, but that might be an option, too.
Dealer should have a demo. The ride was fine in terms of minimal buffeting. Other issues were the "wings" and the distortion looking through the shield. I really think the 10 was too big for my tastes. LRS was also relatively inexpensive.

My latest iteration is the "10" Windsplitter with fangs. The turbulence is pretty much zero. Because I'm tall there is some (moderate) air flow at forehead level, but it is smooth. The Windsplitter is a good shield. Much happier with it now that I added the fangs. I tried this setup for the first time today with a Shoei Qwest. If buffeting were present, it would be magnified by the FF helmet.

Yes, there is distortion. I'm okay with it as the shield is well below my line of sight.

The fork deflectors make a tremendous difference on the air coming up around the tank. Move your hand between the handgrip and tank when going 60+ and you can feel the blast of air coming up and hitting each side of your head. The "fangs" eliminate most all of that.

10" Harley Batwing shield and a set of lowers and I guarantee you that your buffeting problems will be over... Everyone may not like the looks of lowers but they do serve a purpose. The majority of bad air buffeting is coming from underneath and the sides and not up top. That is why without lowers on you can just adjust your legs in and out or up and down and it makes a huge difference on wind flow coming in your face at speeds.

I will beg to differ. I've had bikes with lowers and it doesn't do anything for buffeting in my experience. Those are key words because I believe you. But for me, lowers do a nice job of keeping ones feet and shins warm and dry - that's about it.

On my 11 Ultra it wasn't until I added a fork baffle (not an option on the Rushmore bikes I know) and fangs that a significant reduction in buffeting was realized.

But if your bike doesn't have buffeting with just lowers - good for you. You're a lucky man. We're all different.

But hey you're stripped down street glide looks really cool with that wind "deflector".
And yet another after market part the MOCO will sell you to help make your bike functional.
My God you look awesome with that clean look.
MOCO marketing genius.
Keep buying the look. They'll keep selling it. And sell you back all the parts they removed to help you look cool.
Default A simple solution that could work

Far as buffeting goes, or wind coming up from below... a lot of people have found a simple solution of soft lowers can help a lot. Desert Dawgs are Made in the USA... http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/dese...s-rain-guards/

The solution is different for everyone I went through 4 different height shields before settling on 8" depends on your physical height riding posture seat position ect ...there's no magic formula its trial and error.

Although I will say my nose is about even with the top of the shield and that is the general rule of thumb!
