actually it only had one problem. the injector stayed off, lol. now its Not a fuel injector issue actually but the computer keeping it off. WHY????
WELL, as a master auto technician for 20 years with an in depth diagnostic back ground I could assume what it is,,, and its an individual issue. Ive worked on everything you could imagine and cars with 8 computers and up to around 90 sensors. So the Harley and its 8 sensors or so is really a pretty basic fuel injection system to diagnose. That said its not 5 problems its just the one I had one,,,,,,,,,, what was my issue you might ask? It could be only one thing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I've been in oil and gas for 20 years, I Frac. I've got hundreds of sensors, gauges, transducers and densiometers running numerous computers, monitoring fluid rates, chemical rates, dry rates, density, pressure, proppant rates, and the last time my safety adviser pooped. A lot of which are regulated by the USNRC, yes Nuclear. I control twenty 2000hp pumps in a central control van, along with blenders and hydration units and have wrenched on everything from a 2hp single cylinder generator to a 2200hp 16v diesel engine, to pumps that put out over 100bpm at 15,000psi....

Still boils down to, you've got a 2014 that doesn't function properly.

Take it in for warranty work. It is that simple.

I have lots of tools too....

I quoted the temps shown by the bike which seemed to reflect the actual ambient air temp pretty well. Having the EITMS kick on at 63 was a surprise, except that the engine was throwing a lot of heat.

Basically I'm wondering if the owners manual, Bulletin M-1351 (thanks 14 GuineaPig !), etc. don't tell the whole story, if there is another reason for rear cylinder deactivation.

I just noticed that the Owner's manual does not say anything about the AAT relative to the EITMS. It only refers to engine temp. So there appears to be a contradiction. Perhaps the Service Bulletin overrides the manual but if so it should state that. It would appear mine works as the manual states, though I have no way to know the engine temperature but every time it activated it was quite hot. Like I said previously mine has kicked on twice below 75F.

I spoke to a nearby dealer and they thought it was engine temp not air temp.

Don't think he has a warranty....
He cut the neck on the frame, etc, etc.

Saw a couple threads that mentioned ECM updates due to separate spark tables now for air cooled vs water cooled models. Might be the ECM still has the 288 degree engine temp que in the control loop as well as the AAT? Just a thought...

That would explain my experience.

Where is the Engine Temperature Sensor? i.e. of what exactly does it measure the temperature ?
