2014 CVO muffler question
Are these a straight thru design or in other words can you see straight thru with no obstructions?
And finally what is your opinion on sound/performance compared to the stock 103 muffler?
Thanks in advance..
Baffle tip on the 13 is close to the end of the cap while the 12 is deeper inside.
Measured stock with Radio Shack SPL meter at cold idle, 1300 rpm, 6 feet behind
CVO measured 2 dB louder at cold idle.
Short 25 mile ride, HWY and city, I like them a lot, the bit deeper sound and a little louder as they are.
I am 63 and like to tour, so I am burned out on LOUD
I have never really liked the tapered look of stock
The stock had a little decel pop.
The CVOs decel pop less and with a bit more depth
Before, I could hear way more intake sound on acceleration
Now I can here both intake and exhaust equally
Not able to change my sig for some reason...
14 Ultra Classic is current ride and I love it....

1. Yes. You can bolt them directly to a 103 Touring bike.
2. Not a straight thru design. But you can install FullSac inserts (they come in various size - 1.75, 2, 2.25") and make them straight thru... these would give you more sound and, depending on the size you select, performance (better torque curve)... Here is when I did this mod:
FullSac 2" CVO Power Core inserts and the CVO Perforated Muffler Sleeves...

Just happy with the nice subtle increase in sound and bark.
These are the welds that you have to grind down... since I only had the dremel with some metal cutting blades and time, I just went with it. Took 10 of those little cutting wheels to smooth everything out.

Forgot to take a photo of the sleeve but they look like this installed:

New core in place:

3. Sound performance? See above. It is an improvement over the stock 103 mufflers. And they look awesome.
Add a catless headpipe (Fuel Moto or FullSac has these) and you are set...
