I have my bike in the dealership getting some work done to it. They said their is firmware update to the computer (currently .3) which is ".4" They do not know what the update includes and said it wouldn't know until Tuesday. Does anyone have any information on this or a link to version .4?
Thanks

You mentioned dyno. It is a SEPST update. When the 15 models came out the current 14 maps are out of date. You can pull them from the ecm, but you can't put them back on. You will have to get the map it recommends and copy and paste the info from the old map to the new one then you can flash the new one to the bike. When it tells you to check for updates when you open the SEPST software it will install the new software, canned maps and store VCI updates. When you plug the VCI in and turn on the bike it will probably tell you to update the VCI. One heck of a bunch of work for nothing on the maps. I have done several and only difference I can see is it adds the 2015 to the map name. It won't let you just ignore the updates anymore. The Power vision maps on 14 and 15 bikes can have same problem. New 15 maps are available on the DynaJet web site. Put a 14 map on a 15 and got a code. Went and got the 15 map and transfered data and put back on and no more code.

My 14 Limited is stock except the mufflers off a 13 CVO Ultra Classic. The dealer downloaded an update to my stock ECM at the 10K service last month. They said the 14 twin and air cooled came out with the same tuning maps. They have since came out with different maps for the two motors.
Firmware updates used to require a chip change out. Now Firmware resides on Internal flash memory, this means just a software flash to the firmware programming.

Used to be software was a download, firmware was a replacement ROM swap (software burned on a write once, read many memory chip) and a hardware change would mean replacement of the entire ECM.

^^ This.
I do them weekly on printers, modems, routers. Download, then load into the device once. When device is restarted, it loads a copy into memory to run.
It is all a play on words - important thing is we have an update for the ECM's out there.

Spoke to a Local Harley Mechanic today and he said they don't ever have updates to the ecm. They do have updates for radio systems and the digi tech He said they can't change anything as far as tuning on the ecm with the digi tech. Only way to change the program is with the Stage downloads. He said the same thing I did about the software strategy for the SEPST maps has been updated 3 times since the 14 came out. You have to copy the data from the old map to the updated strategy. It doesn't make any difference if it was already on the bike it won't go back on until you update. There is no way the ecm for a air cooled and Water cooled would have the same ecm program. The Power Vision has to be updated for new models also. Put a 14 Air map on a 15 air map. It turned the check engine light on. Went to Dynajet and got the 14/15 new air map and put the 14 data in it and no more check engine light. I would quiz the tech or whoever tells me this.

Either your mechanic or the 3 of us that have reported our stock ECM's were updated all have mechanics that don't know what they are talking about. It wasn't an infotainment system update. I had already updated to 1.18.2. They pluged the digital technician into a port under the left side cover. I watched the progress bar move slowly across the screen for several minutes while it updated. The stock flash on the ECM has nothing to do with what a PV or SEPST can and can't do.
