Some of the CVO streetglides have this cable on the fairing. I'm using a Bluetooth setup instead of cable but this is a location you can use that doesn't look out of place.
It has threads. Once you remove the cap, its apparent. Easy install. Just read up on how to connect to the connector under the fairing. You need to use a tool and properly remove the dummy pin
What is the special tool for removing the dummy pin? I do not want to screw it up. The tool and any advice would be great.
I'm actually interested in how you spliced in the pillion connection. What was needed and where did you splice? I've been contemplating BT (SENA or AKE setup) just so I can get the wife connected also, but the nice thing with wired is better sound quality and no batteries to charge. I am not interested in communicating with other riders, since I ride alone 99% of the time for long trips. Also, can the pillion talk to or just receive. Thanks.
Just did this install on my 14 special today. Used a 3/16 bit for a starter hole through the console, then proceeded with a step drill to the appropriate size. (HF special)
I also spliced in a second cable for the pillion. Trickiest part is getting the plastic pin out of the P&A 280 slot 12 deustch plug and installing the ground pin. I have diagram and instructions on separating these plugs if anyone needs it. It is likely in the service manual also.
Hi Roadglider1:
I wanted to know if you could provide the diagrams and instructions on separating the plugs. I have the rider cable installed and want to do the passenger plug for the wife.
You'd have to think that 2016 would bring a "kit" so to speak to do all this since the 13's and below already have one. Kudo's to the folks who did this on their own though, it's definitely something on my radar.
Anyone know the part number for the ring/cap used for this particular setup?
