Default Issue or no Issue?

This may be a dumb question, but thought I'd ask it anyway. I recently brought home my new 2015 Limited, but had a couple of issues right off the bat. I posted about it here and the dealer was responsive to the issues. The bike was picked up today from my home to go back to the dealer for service. My question is this: I had taken my last ride of the season last week, filled up the tank, added fuel stabilizer, with the intent for the bike not to be fired up till spring. I have heard that it may not be the healthiest thing for the bike, to start it for a short period of time, then shut it off(without taking it for a good spin). The bike needed to be started today in order for it to be loaded onto the trailer. I'm guessing it will be started at some point during the service. Then, the bike will be delivered back to me. Any issue with this?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Check your oil to see if there is any condensation. You can always change your oil in the spring before start up.

My bike is stored in the cold up here in VT. I haven't had any issues with condensation on my past bikes.

BTW, I grew up a couple of towns away from you. I miss the earlier spring you get down there. I won't be riding until April at the earliest!

You'll be fine. You're right about condensation having negative affects causing high acidic levels in the oil and those short term start ups do just that but only if it were done on a more routine basis. A few short runs like that won't hurt it. Just get it good and warm when you get it back so the condensation boils off.

If you're still having issues in 6 months I'll be surprised....but at least you'll still be in warranty.....ride and enjoy (when you can).

It will be fine, it is long term and frequent cold starts and not warming up that is concern.

It is a Harley, not a new born baby.
