G'day, need help with two things. I want to leave my truck and trailer somewhere around Asheville in April while we bike around for a few weeks. Does anyone know of a good spot. Second thing, it's a new Ultra Glide so when it comes out of the trailer, sometime along the way it is going to need it's first service. We plan on heading to Wilmington, down to Charleston, then west to the Trace. The plan is to head north to Nashville then back to Maggie Valley and the truck and trailer.
My suggestion would be to google storage units in the town you are stopping in, then calculate your route and find a dealer that matches close to the 1000 mile mark on your bike, if you happen to go over a few hundred miles before getting her serviced, its all good, win win. Good luck on your journey, be safe dude.
There are a number of good dealerships in that area. My favorite is Greenville Harley Davidson. The service dept is top rate and do a great job on your bike. I bought my Limited in another state and then moved south. I chose them over three in the area. You could contact Asheville Harley Davidson and ask them if you could leave your truck and trailer in their lot. Some dealers let people do that when planning a trip.
Good luck and have fun
If your starting in Maggie Valley.... Be sure to visit 'Wheels Through Time'..... Great place to spend a day. They had a show on Discovery 'Whats in the Barn'..... Might ask, they may let you park at their place.
Many HD Dealerships will let you park your rig in their lot while you motor around the country, Figure where your going to kick off and call the local dealer.
If you are coming thru Columbia SC then my favorite HD dealership is Thunder Tower. Good people and no issues. They'd probably let you park your rig there.
Thanks for the input, I'm going to try that dealer idea for the parking problem. Next thing will be to find the dealer for the service with some entertainment in the neighbourhood as that might not be an in and out thing. I hate not to be riding all the time while on vacation but we have to take care of that new baby.
