My dealer told me first service should be between 800-1400 miles. Maybe you can work it out where the dealer you leave your truck at can do the service when you get back. If not, just call ahead to wherever you plan to get it done and tell them you are from out of the country and don't want to wait over night. They should be able to hook you up. Shouldn't take them but a couple of hours to do that work.

Enjoy.

We plan on heading to Wilmington, down to Charleston, then west to the Trace. The plan is to head north to Nashville then back to Maggie Valley and the truck and trailer.
A little "off topic"...I just wanted to say that you'll love this ride! I've ridden both the Blue Ridge and Natchez Trace on multiple occasions, never both at the same time due to time constraints. I would suggest starting in Roanoke, VA (there's also a HD Dealership there), ride the BRP all the way down, shoot across to Jackson, MS, Natchez up to Nashville, then back to Roanoke. Kinda a big loop and if you've go the time and stay off interstates is a GREAT ride.

Default spring vacation three

This will be our third bike trip this far south due to Canada spring/fall weather. We have three weeks off. Last fall we were in Nashville and found the start of The Trace with our Street Glide. I knew we would have to come back.

Wife & I also intend on doing the Trace in the Spring again. This time she wants to spend more time in Nashville.

Then seriously look at Smoky Mountain HD in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Right across the street are not 1 but 2 good restaurants, one Mex, the other trad. American.

And you're right on the edge of the shopping.... plenty to do within boot's distance.

I agree with Chip. Smoky Mountain are good folks. It's a nice ride over the mountain from Cherokee to Pigeon Forge or ride the dragon up to the top and you're near their main dealership in Maryville.

If you'd rather have something in the other direction, I was impressed with Smoky Mountain Steel Horses in Waynesville, NC. (Not the same people) When I was there last I think they were strictly an indy shop but now have some dealerships. They were originally a Harley Dealer. It's a nice looking place and they have Harley certified techs. Closest to Maggie Valley.

Also. Blue Ridge HD in Hickory, NC is a good dealership. I've not had work done there but have rented from them and they are nice folks.

Neither is near what I would call entertainment but like others have said it shouldn't take more than a couple hours at most.

Just a little warning. I live near The Trace and ride it pretty often, but the most interesting part is the top few miles. The rest is straight as a string and miles and miles of trees lining the sides. Pretty, but after a mile you've pretty much seen the whole thing.

I hope you have a great trip.

I've spent more time researching, Big Ed appears to make a good point about the south end of The Trace. At the very least I have to go from Tupelo to Nashville. Must find the King. I've come to the conclusion it's impossible to know where we're going to be for the first service as we rarely make concrete plans. I guess that's the part of the beauty of riding a bike. Hope you all feel better than I do today. Happy Trails.

Your not by chance the couple that was here last year that went to the Keys ?? We Might have met you at a rest area outside Orlando/Lakeland ? Anyway we have had great success on the road with the dealers in Columbus GA / Chattanooga Tenn / Dalton GA when we take our yearly Oct 7day trips. Word to the wise about the "Trace" make sure you you travel during Max light levels because there is a over abundance of wildlife obsticals ... And they monitor the 50mph speed limit. Enjoy the south as its prime motorcycle months.

Hi Aviscomi,

I know this thread is a bit old but I just posted a request for a good route from south BRP/Maggie Valley to Natchez. Any chance I could get you to post the route you took in that thread?

Thanks

Dave
