Default 2014 SGS headlight question

When I first bought my SGS, the first thing I noticed was that my low beams were difficult to see with at night, much more so than with the Fatboy I used to have. I mentioned this during the 1000 mile service and they said that they adjusted it per my complaint. Fast forward to a couple nights ago, my first night ride I had since the service. I went for a ride and just couldn't see very well with the low beams.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is it a problem for the SGS, is it a touring bike thing or did the dealership not adjust it? I'm leery of removing the fairing to try and adjust it myself. Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Yep found the same thing with my 14 sgs. Adjusted the light as per the service manual and all is great. Don't visit the dealer much and did it myself. As i remember the adjustment had to be adjusted all the way up and you can get at the adjustment by sticking a ball end allen wrench up under the rubber seal on top(right at the cut out in the trim ring) of the headlight, then crank it up. Made it much better. Think you need to sit on the bike to make the adjustment height measurement and flick between high and low beam to get a good reference. My son bought a 14 sgs a few months later and had to do the same for him.

I had a two hour, unplanned ride, back thru the country where there are no lights at all. My stock light adjustment seemed ok a few times I checked it out on my driveway, however, coming back thru the country (where I live) was not fun.

I put daymaker, head, passing lights and did the CD for the turn signals. To say it was like night and day would be an understatement. Any lights must be adjusted, but now I've got excellent lighting in a demanding environment. Oh I also did the controls.

IMHO this is the best safety upgrade you can make, I'm not a night rider, but if/when it occurs, caution, common sense and the ride could be actually enjoyable.

I've actually taken the bike out at night 2 times for 50 mile rides, with the Day Makers and I am comfortable, where before I thought I if I get caught out again I might have to rent a room for the night.

My '14 SG was delivered with the headlight adjusted way too low. Adjusting it myself, according to the owners manual, made a significant improvement.

The fairing doesn't have to come off, but I found it easier to get to the adjusting screw by taking the trim ring off.

Stock low beam

Stock high beam

I know you did not ask about different lights, The dual halogen is a good light I just needed a little more.

And this made a huge difference in my night riding.

If the question is for me?

You can shop around Surdyke, Kutter, Newcastle, Manchester super store to name a few.

Yes it took about 20min, and you will also need the adapter pig tail $20 or less.

Daymaker led reflector-----#67700189

Wiring harness------#69200897

Part numbers are for 14s and later touring bikes except road glides, or 91 and later FLS, FLSTC, FLSTF, FLSTFB, and FLSTN

Again if the question was for me I hope this helps.

I think I am going to have to get this. I have seen a lot of aftermarket led's but don't want to have to retro fit anything.

Yes it was, and thanks. Don't know how much after dark riding I will do but my bike definitely could use this light.
