Yes, it is for one of two options:

The operation of the HOME switch depends on whether the Classic Mode setting is enabled. To enable or disable Classic Mode, see SYSTEM SETTINGS, Classic Mode.

HOME (normal mode): Press the HOME switch to display the Home screen. Press the switch again to display the current audio source (tuner station, media file, or phone screen).

HOME (Classic Mode): Press the HOME switch to toggle through available audio sources (tuner bands, media player connected through USB, or Bluetooth connected device). This operates similar to the MODE SEL switch on previous Harley-Davidson motorcycles. To display the Home screen, press and hold the HOME switch on the handlebar or use the HOME switch on the radio faceplate.

Got it. I keep mine in Normal mode. For a moment I thought you meant that the Home button itself was customizable.

Don't feel cheated, there are enough "glitches" to go around and plenty for everyone to have at least two of their own.

What caught me eye was the word "Setup" in the banner.

I've occasionally had the screen stay blank like that since update 1.17.4.

Default Update 1.18.3

Haven't seen anyone w/ this outcome. Fri. updated software version to 1.18.3. Sat went for a ride - radio & nav worked but it wouldn't read my USB drive w/ music on it (same thumb drive it had read w/ previous version). Cycled through "USB, Reading...". Rode about 20 miles, shut bike off for 5 min's, started up and all I got was the small B&S logo w/ the clock (the clock worked!). Got home later, shut bike off. Turned ignition to Access and got radio and again "USB-Reading..." cycle. Called semi-local dealer and he said to re-install the update. OK - no problem, except went to the bike - ignition to Access. and voila, only the small logo and clock, no radio screen or any other screeen. Plugged in the USB w/ the update - nothing - still logo and clock. Off, then on a few times and only the logo/clock. Doesn't recognize the USB and no radio or anything else (the clock still works!). Read a ton of threads and someone mentioned to pull the fuse and maybe it would reset. No go. Pulled it, left it out for 5-10 min's. Same. Small logo and clock. This unit worked (radio, nav, USB music, etc.) before the update. Any ideas?

Try to do a factory reset. Turn the bike off for 15 seconds. Then, hold down the power/mute button and turn on accessories. Keep holding the button until the normal warning screen appears. Release the button and accept the warning. then, move down to reset and chose the reset.

Default Factory reset

Did the first part of the factory reset procedure to get it at least to the home page. It still didn't recognize the USB so I did the software install again (1.18.3), still no USB. Went next step and did the factory reset - it wiped all my saved locations in nav and all the radio presets - no big deal. Let it finish, it went to a black screen w/ the small logo and clock!! Turned bike off, then on and it all came up looking like it's supposed to. Plugged in the USB and voila - works again - for now! Reset audio, nav stuff except for favorites - will do later. Have MP3 again. Hopefully next weekend it'll still work! Will keep you posted. Thanks again for the directions as to how to get to the factory reset from a locked unit.

Default Software???????????

I don't even know if anyone will read this, I often skip through a lot of the radio post cause their is so many issues for lack of a better term.

Well the most annoying problem I have had with my 6.5 boom system is that when I ride the bike sometimes the radio volume (has nothing to do with avc ) will not work and the radio just freezes , well that was a pain in the you know, especially if you ride with a group, you hop on the bike and start off down the road and by the time the radio boots up to the radio is frozen, (then you have to ride for an hour with no radio), god it is sooo slow. I think harley should recall all the radios and have new processors and more memory or something to get them to work like the state of the art they claim.
Now the latest bug I was using my usb drive and it got stuck on one song I tried to find another artist or song and the usb stick was stuck on the song it was playing and I could not change to another song or any other song on the usb stick , thank god I was able to change to the radio.
Well I hope harley finds out about this latest bug cause the new radio does not have a cd player, Come on harley I am sure a lot of people bought the new bikes cause of the radio/gps , besides the bigger motor and other upgrades the radio was a nice upgrade, I don't even use the gps cause it is such a pita but at least the radio could work.
Please Harley Fix the radio the bike has been out now for over a year !!!!

Folks will read it but I have no idea if Harley does or not. I have a friend that works for them in their aviation department and he says that there are folks that browse the forums but are not allowed to participate as a company official.

I suggest that you call HD at 1-800-258-2464 for issues and if you have suggestions, send them an email under their ideas section: http://www.harley-davidson.com/conte...ct-us.html#234

They do read them and listen. I have even had phone calls back regarding emails and previous phone calls I have made. Keep them professional and helpful and you never know...

Joe, I'm pretty sure the only time I have this problem is when I start the bike before I click the "ACCEPT" prompt and yeah I know what you mean about it being a real pain. The "freeze up" doesn't happen every time I rush the "boot up" but the times it has happened I attributed it to starting the bike just before the sequence was completed.

As far as your one song problem, I had this also. There are "seek" and "scan" menu options on one of the screens. By mistake at some point when I was fishing around the different screens, I had "unclicked" the one that plays all my USB music and clicked onto the other. You might try that.
