Default License Plate Frame Question

When I purchased my 15 FLHTK from the dealer, I picked out a bunch of goodies one of them being a licence plate frame...PN# 60051-01. As much stuff as I had and to make life a little more simple I just told them to install everything before they delivered the bike. Just before they did I stopped in and they had everything done except for the plate frame because they said it wouldn't fit. Judging by my picture below, I can see their point because the top of the plate touches the piece that is on the bottom of the tour pak which leaves no place for a frame border. I've checked out pictures on here and some of you have frames around your plates....so.....are you guys drilling new holes and mounting the plate and frame lower or what's your secret?

I bought a cheap chrome one from J&P and it fit with no problem at all. Used the same holes that are there.

I bought a Curved Kury one.
I just drilled 2 holes in that ugly black thing they come with from the factory, and through bolted it with a couple of SS Bolts and Nuts.

I found out the same thing even after the dealer told me it would fit. I ended up getting the plain chrome one with no "Harley Davidson" on it. Actually like it better anyway.

I had a real nice frame on my 2011 - it did not fit. The nicer frames from the dealership did not fit - so, like others,I ended up with a cheap chrome frame.

If I were you, I'd remove the plate. Hold the plate / frame assembly in position to confirm 4 new holes would do the trick, then carefully drill the holes. You might want to paint the new holes with Tremclad or something just to keep them from rusting.
