Unfortunately, my local small town indy just shut down for health reasons. I would buy as much as I could through him, even if it was a little more than online. He was a resource I needed to stay open.
Buy a good motorcycle jack and do them yourself. Even an expensive J & S jack will pay for itself in a short time on other things as well, like oil changes, etc. Put Ride On in the tires and you`ll never have to balance them or worry about most flats.
I have a jack and I removed both the front and rear. I had ride on on her bike before and will probably add it again.

Awesome, this is good info to have, thanks.
I have had many tire changes on bikes and in the past, it has never been an issue for the indy to change the wheels. It just seems to be getting more and more difficult to find an indy that you can bring tires in and ask them to mount them.
I own a firearms business and we up charge if someone brings in something they want installed and we carry the same item but they bought it online to save a buck or two or the sales tax.
You don't expect to walk into a diner with your own eggs and bread and ask them to make you breakfast so you can save 10 bucks do you?
Why do some of you think this is any different?
Of course not but we aren't talking about cooking meals either. Your comparison is so apples and kiwi that it doesn't work. I can find shops that will install parts bought elsewhere, can you find a restaurant that will cook your eggs and bread? I can buy tires for my car off of tire rack and have lots of places that install them. I can bring my own oil to lots of those places and they will use it as well. My local HD was running a winter special that you bring your slip-ons, they install them for only $50. Pick a position and stick with it.
...fine, try getting your tires changed at a bowling ally then.
(actually I used to be able to do that. An Independent I knew rented shop space that was attached to a bowling ally. And he didn't care where you got your tires).
I no longer install parts purchased elsewhere or online. The people who sell this stuff cheaper never have to deal with it once it's out their door. If I install something a customer bought elsewhere and they have warranty issues I would be losing money fixing the problem I did not sell. If I sell a part I have made a little profit therefore I can do the warranty. I also buy local even if it costs more because I would like for local people to purchase from me. My community has approx. 50,000 people but businesses know who buys local and who doesn't. If it got around town I was buying everything online, people would not buy from me. That's why I won't. Also why not support your local community? You would be surprised how much that would effect your local economy.
When I go into a local business... and did no less than 10 times in the month of March, to get parts, either small or large, counting oil, oil filters and lights, and they tell me "I don't have that in stock, I'll have to order it, be here some time next week"....
I can order it, and have it here next week, and get it cheaper.
Shops that won't do something simple, like mounting tires, have lost my business due to their lack of CUSTOMER service. Chances are tires aren't the only thing I'm ever going to need... and the guy that blew me off on something small, will not see my wallet when it comes to something large.
I have a local guy that I use for tires. He does not care if I buy from him or not, his price is the same I can find on line so I just have him get them. I would love to use my dealer, but even with what he charges me to mount on rim, I take the wheels off myself. I still end up at least a hundered bucks in my pocket from what the dealer charges. I work hard for my money and can't afford to over pay for something as simple as tires. I mean get real I put 4 tires on my wifes car for what 2 cost for the MC. It's funny how things have changed, back when I sold and installed tires installation was included in the price of the tire. Ah the good old days.
