Just wondering I know a lot have done air cleaners and exhaust and some cams.
But I was looking at the hd engine kits and the hd has a stage 3, kit with high compression pistons cams valve springs and push rods gaskets , and it is reasonably about $960. , the dealer says get the stage 4 kit , But that cost $1995. I was wondering if anyone has done a stage 3 kit , I mean the stock motor only has what 9.7 compression and then you bump it up to 10.5 compression that should make a big difference, At half the price ??????? anyone ? ??
It depends on what you're looking to accomplish. Yeah, it makes a difference. Go back to touring section and look at "DYNO numbers for baggers", it's a sticky on the top. Most everyone will include what they've done to the motor, including the kits you speak of. The "extra" $1000 will probably buy you 8-10hp and 12-15tq. Is that worth the money, that's up to you to decide. Can you feel the difference between a 98hp and a 110hp bike? 108tq to 119? maybe...but is it worth a G? Keep us posted, good luck!
Are going to Drag Race the bike, or do some Street Racing with it ?
You may lose some ride ability going to big on the cams, and ultra high compression.

I want to drive it on the street, But I think the kits harley sells and or the cams they recomend in their screaming eagle branded cams are not that radical. I hear of guys changing their cams all the time, I was just wondering what other motor mods others have done and if they were happy with the results, and I saw the stage 3 kit as not too expensive and maybe good bang for the buck upgrade to the motor.
After all the stock motor only has 9.7 to 1 compression and if you look at a lot of other bikes they are running 13 to 1 compression, making good power.
Got a friend with a 13 to 1 motor. We've taken about a half dozen rides together. He's broken half those times. Once didn't even get out of the parking lot. And he's adding octane booster every time he fills it.
My other dozen or so friends have done the stage one on their bikes and not one of them has ever not made the ride.
I'll stick with the stage one and enjoy my rides, thanks.
You might also want to check out Hillside and/or Fuel Moto too.
I would so Recommend Fuel Moto. These guys know how to do it, and do it right!!!!!! I took my CVOSG to them and could not be happier with the end result. Mild Port and Polish & re-decked the heads to raise compression to 10.2, Woods TW777 cams and using the Fuel Moto exhaust 2-1-2 w/ e Series slip-ons, PV-2 tuner and I am @ 110 hp and 126 tq. So with the right tune and the right mild work its amazing what these guys can do. They sell the kits for the "Do It Yourself" but you better have a good tuner in your area.

JMHO
Don't the cvo's come with a 110 inch motor already with some power? do you have to use octane boost or anything ?
If my friend had taken his bike to Fuel Moto he wouldn't be left behind so often. They have impressed me so much with their customer service that I would use them for anything.

Yes the 110 has more power, but as we all know we always want a little more.
As for octane boost, not at all. I use Sunoco premium in this bike no different then any other bike I owned. Gas mileage is no different either, unless of course I am riding like I just stole it..
