I searched but I'm still a little confused on a couple of things. I'm wanting to fix the tour pack in a way where I can take it off easily and run a solo seat for a different look. The wife doesn't like to ride that much. Do I need to buy the 4 point docking hardware? What's the best set-up to make this transition easy? Also, if I pull the tour pack off I guess I lose FM reception unless I install a fairing mounted antenna. Correct? I listen to usb music most of the time anyway. I'm trying to figure out a plate relocation fix too. I'm sure I can fab something up. Thanks in advance.
I ride with the TP off 90% of the time. At a minimum you need the four point docking kit. The MOCO sells a complete kit that is in the Harley catalog. You need to relocate the antenna and also supply turn signals. The kit mounts the antenna in a goofy place so I have the Harley hidden antenna. Works decent.
The turn signals get mounted on the saddlebags with a quick connect. You have to unplug it everytime you take off the bags.
I had the stealer install the kit when i bought the bike.
If I had to do it over I would have bought the four point kit only and done everything else different. Buy the hidden antenna and forego the relocated antenna bracket.
Also look at the Filler strips from Kuryakin or CD that have turn and brake lights instead of the saddlebag mounted lights that come with the kit.
Also when you sse it you will want to do something with the license plate bracket. Without the TP it just sticks up in the air and looks goofy. I am looking to repalce the tailight with a version that has no license plate window and using lighted bolts from Kury. Then any license plate holder will work.
Hope it works out for you.
P.S. - If you have the dealer do it be careful they scratched my rear fender pretty bad and I never saw it until I took the TP off 4 weeks later and 150 miles away. The TP is heavy and you have to be real careful when you take it on and off. It's a two person job/

Reason: Update
Thanks man. Yeah I'm looking at the custom dynamics fillerz to solve the turn signal problem. I took the tour pack off today just to see what I'm dealing with. It is a bit cumbersome. I was glad to see that the bottom of my fender is not all scratched up from wires rubbing. I think I'll do what you suggest and just order the 4 point kit and piece everything else together.
I would go with the 4 point docking bracket, quick detach mount, the filler strips for turn signals and the antenna relocator. I bought my 4 point docking from amazon at a big price cut compared to harley and I'm very please with the quality.

This is my 14 Limited and never regretted not spending the money for a docking kit. The bag lights and plate holder was all I spent. There only 4 bolts to remove and unplug the wiring. I use my phone for music, the only thing deferent would be mounting the plate to the left bag using the kit that would not hurt the bag. Use that extra cash for some bars or the solo seat. IMHO
I bought the detach kit at 20 percent off. At 455.00 it's still pricey. I justified it by figuring I would have to spend 200.00 on turn signals, and 65.00 for license plate bracket and I don't know how much for an antenna relocate kit. So I really spent less than 200.00 on the 4 point hardware and detach bracket.
I'm really good at justifying for the things I want, and not really need.
I also got the street glide seat for free from a friend whose wife hated it.
I bent the license bracket to lay back. It helps with the billboard look.
Buy the Moco kit best money you can spend instead of mickey mousing it.Nice lights on the bags are very functional and look great. I had dealer installed the kit on my wife's Low negotiated in the selling price even tour pack never came off yet in 3 months little over 4K miles.
There's several ways to do the job - I got the 4pt hardware, detachable rack and changed the fender so I could run a light bar, I got the bag lights but haven't installed them yet - not sure if I will or not.
Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I just installed the custom dynamics fillerz today and wired them into the brakes and turn signals. They're great and I'm impressed. I'll figure out a solution to the plate and get the docking from HD.
