Had my bike in for new handlebars (Wild ones 578), 5,000 mile service and had the dealer do the Dyno. I've got a stage 1, Fuel Moto head pipe with Dyno tuned exhaust and a Power Commander 5 tuner.
Picked up the bike on Friday afternoon and headed out 4am on Saturday for a 3,000 mile trip. Tennessee, W Virginal and Kentucky. Did the Snake, Devils Triangle and Witches Knuckle.
The difference with the Dyno Tune is amazing. I can't believe how much more power and how responsive it is. Riding 2 up with fully loaded luggage. Neve once did I lack power. I got 97 HP with the Dyno.
I am not familiar with what the dealer does to tune a bike on the Dyno so I am a bit confused. When installing a SEST on a previous bike of mine they used the dyno and I figured it was HD software so naturally they would be the subject matter experts (we hope). So does a PC V work off of similar software or can they create tunes for a DynoJet product?
I use the Power Vision tuner and basic Auto Tune functions and I am always happy with the end results. Using your example, would I see noticeable gains by having someone put my bike on a Dyno and reprogramming my PV tune?
No disrespect meant. I'm just here to learn.
seabee, from what I understand….and I'm learning as well, you have to have the correct software installed to handle the different manufacturer's tuners. One dealer I called could not tune it because they didn't have the right software.
So when Fuel Moto sent me my exhaust and tuner, they programmed it for the set-up I had. However, actually putting the bike on the computer and fine tuning it is night and day compared to the pre-programmed tune.
Interesting. I may look into that. Though, I'm not 100% sure I'd take it to my dealer. There are a handful of V twin performance shops in the area that do it every day. Maybe I'll check them out. Thanks!
That was my thoughts too seeing as though a cam change wasn't listed. With a full stage 1 and dyno tune on mine I'm at 85.5hp and 104.4tq which are good numbers for a 103 stage 1. 97hp is either with a cam or a 110.
