Default Coolant Very Low

I checked the bike yesterday - coolant was very low and you could barely see some on the bottom of the bottle.

Stood the bike up - very little change. So, I decided to drop the bike off at the dealership on Monday. Stopped by there today ad they are working on it. There were no signs of leakage on the floor, no white smoke from the exhaust, no unusual smell and the bike did not get hot on my last trip.

Dealer had e start and warm the bike up while there - he said he didn't see anything circulating but I don't think the bike got hot enough. Will let you all know what he discovers.

Bike is a 2014 Ultra Limited -about 13,000 miles. I remember taking it in earlier for the radiator cap - but he said all were not replaced - just the ones they discovered were defective. Mine now may be defective. So, if so I asked...where is the coolant going? If defective and spilling..should I see it somewhere. Hummm, he[ll give me a better report on Wednesday.

I speak from experience from what I am going to tell you. I have a 2014 Ultra Limited. I have had every coolant related problem that you can think of with my bike. Three thermostats, one water pump, several sensors and a leak from one of the metal tubes that run from the cylinder heads to the thermostat. After several calls to HD, they sent a Regional Tech out to check my bike out. I was told it would only take about 3 hours. They had my bike for one and half days.

The tech told me that they had to come up with a different way to ensure all of the air is drained from coolant system. They parked my bike on an incline and started it and let it run until it was warm. They then proceeded to check to see if there was anymore air in the coolant system. A check before had shown that the coolant was full. When they checked after parking it and letting it run until warm, they discovered that they were able to put about 3 ounces more into the coolant system after they bled more air out. As a result, if the new way of ensuring the air is out of the coolant system isn't done, sometimes coolant will burp out from different places because of the undiscovered air in the coolant system.

Keep after them, and hold them accountable as they would rather see you just get tired and go away. Things were promised to me as a result of all of the problems that I have had. I patiently waited four months and never heard a word from HD. I decided to call again and complain to HD Customer Service. You would have thought that someone would have called me to follow up about my meeting with the tech. About two weeks after my last call HD finally came through with one of the agreed upon promised. Don't let them get away with it. My bike is the exact same color and model as yours. Amber Whiskey/ Vivid Black. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Bigrobtemp - hopefully they will fix your's to,

Thirdjoe - interesting they are all the same color. I however suspect that some others may have simply not checked their overflow system. After all, it has been raining here in Michigan a bit - so, I have not had the opportunity to put the long hard miles on the bike this season.

Normally by now, it is pretty hot here and the bike would need the system - but with the cool weather and short rides, the bike barely gets warm.

With your information, first, is all OK now Did the incline parking and filling resolve the matter? If so I have to wonder if Harley has passed this information onto the techs as guidance to resolve the issues?

There's a thread floating around on here about someone having coolant leaking into the cylinder, I think they (the MoCo) blamed it on a porous cylinder head. No sign of leak but the coolant was disappearing. Think they replaced head, cylinder, a bunch of stuff. It's recent so you shouldn't have much trouble finding it. And as for purging the air, I thought I read you can manually put on the fans which also activate the circulating pump, circulates the coolant and purges the air. I think you have to remove the reservoir cap to allow the air to escape. Good luck to both of you...

Guys - my bike is back home and I am not having any difficulty deleting routes or waypoints.

I just put a trip to Boston on my bike. Trip included stops and waypoints. To see if there were any problems, I selected ALL when importing. This means I get all the stops and all the way points etc.

I then made sure the route was on the bike and it was. Next, I wanted to delete the trips.

Since I havee a few stops, my route showed up as several trips. I wet to the Nav system....clicked on Go To- then Saved. Found my first leg - highlighted it and once highlighted, I touched the middle right hand screen and saw the word Route. Page down to delete and press that. The route disappeared. I had to do that for all my stops.

For any waypoints, go to Nav - Where To -Saved You will see all the saved places. Highlight the place, touch the right center again and hit the delete key. It will say, delete contact - Say yes and it will go away.

5k on my '15 Limited Low now, no leaks. Been as high as 105 here in the last week or so, coolant level remains right at the line.
