I've posted this several times, but sit down and type out an email with all of the relevant information for the two bike deal. The bikes you want, the details of the trade in bike (mileage, tire wear, pictures, VIN, etc). Explain that you will be buying the bikes that day and would like them priced individually and want the total price out the door. Send the email to the nearest 5 dealers with a timed deadline for their offer. Pick the best one and go get your new bikes. Don't be a dick. If you agree they have the best offer of the five dealers and they play square, just go buy the bikes.
I was at the a local HD dealer yesterday. They are offering 10% off MSRP on all touring bikes. (And they have a lot of them on the floor.) It got me thinking about a Ultra Limited. They are also dropping dealer prep and delivery.
I bought my 14 SGS in January of 14, so early in the model year but also in the middle of a damn cold winter. I paid $23,100 out the door. Michigan has 6% sales tax, so that is base price ($23,700 if I remember correctly) plus freight of $435 and whatever setup was (I think $250) and about $100 for registration plus taxes of $1400 equals about $25,885, so I got about $2800 off the price.
We all stress over saving another $50 or $100 but once we ride off we never think about it again.
I'm glad I made the decision I did as my dealer has bent over backwards to accommodate me... and now they're being great to my wife as she is looking at a bike.
I bought a 2015 SGS 2 weeks ago. Like Navyman said 10% off MRSP no freight or prep. Same deal available on RGS and all touring bikes, not CVO. They had the same deals last year starting around this time and I couldn't do it then. I travel some for work and visited several dealers around the country and asked about that deal and most acted like I was full of s***. So I don't know if you can get that kind of deal everywhere.
As usual, you guys are really helpful. I am trying to stay a bit patient because here in Texas there are a lot of 15 RG's on the floor. With the new bikes coming out I know there will be some deals.
The other side of me says wait until next year and buy an as-new used model with a few thousand miles on the clock fro a few more thousand off.
I just need to stay off that test ride cuz that is usually the clincher. I very much appreciate the info about 10% off and the 23k range being reported sounds about right as well. I cant bear to part with my Bones or my RK (just had 106 installed...BTW dynoed this week @ 103 hp and 109 TQ... and runs GREAT!!
