Question Discount from MSRP?

I've read about and know at least some dealers emulate car dealers with ADM or whatever they want to call it raising the price above MSRP. Do dealers ever sell below MSRP? If so, is there a way to find out which ones other than calling them all? I've been looking at their websites and the ones that say "call for price" seem to me to in an abbreviated way be saying "we sell above MSRP and don't want to advertise how much we're going to scalp you so call".

Any discount usually come in the form of store credit.......

Fewer dealers sell above MSRP these days then back when there was a 6+ month wait for new bike. Several dealers I have visited recently are $1000 off OR $1000 credit for accessories. If you trade in can often negotiate trade-in value.

I think the HD Dealers are not allowed to post prices less than MSRP per the moco

now they may be able to have a sale on a individual bike, but MSRP is regulated by the moco

now when you get into a dealer or call them on the phone about specific bikes they have and your price, that's where the discount starts.

buddy bought a 2012 Ultra Limited this year for $19200 plus tax, $21462 OTD so yeah there are discounts out there, as his bike has an MSRP of almost $25k ($24814)

Having read this type of thread a million times now, here's what I've learned. No matter how good a deal you get, someone got a better one (or at least will say they did on the forum).

Bottom line is that you really have to get in the dealership (I'd argue that a phone call isn't good enough), find the bike you want, hit them with what you want to pay and walk if they don't meet the deal and try the next dealership. If all the dealerships in your area let you walk, then you've probably set an unrealistic goal (for your market). You can then branch out to other markets, with the caveat of travel to get the bike, or you can up your price and start again.

How you set your goal price (or deal since many dealerships are more willing to deal on part discounts, gift cards, free services, etc..) is really a matter of what will make you feel good about dropping the load of cash.

To answer your specific question, yes, there are dealers who sell bikes under MSRP. There are some who will try to get more than MSRP, and there are people who will buy them that way...

Good luck.

The local dealer has $3100 off list with no set up and no freight for select 2012 models right now. If you are looking for a limited in black give em a call.

My local dealer took 5% off MSRP for my new 2012 FLHTK. Also no set-up charge, no freight charge. I also got 20% off accessories. I have been a customer at this dealership for many years. This dealership is also close to home. 15 minutes away. There once was a time when I would go up and down the eastern sea board to save a thousand $$ or more on a truck or bike. But now, if I can get a good deal close to home it is well worth it to me. Also have gotten to know the service manager at this dealership over the years, so getting in for service (e.g. 1000 mi) is hassle free.

I JUST payed 17500 for a 2012 big blue pearl rk with cruise. I payed tax (only 12 bucks) and reg fees. That included freight, set up and the shady doc fees. I also got 15% off parts and they installed my speedo and adjusted the bars for free. I had a trade. An ultra that was traded bone stock and that only cost me 2800 to have for 2 years which i consider good. But it only had 12000 miles on it.

Today I stopped in Buckminns in Xenia, OH. as I passed by. We talked about pricing and he said he knew of a couple nearby that added a large markup but that they were strictly an MSRP dealer. I asked about discounts and about store credits and he said they wouldn't do either.

Those of you who've mentioned good deals please mention which dealer. I'm not looking to scrape the bottom dollar, just to get a nice deal. I'm also sure that no matter how good it is, even if it was the 100,000th customer and got half off, there would be someone quickly posting about their better deal.

I occasionally ride missions with a super nice couple that bought their Street Glides at Stone Mountain HD and saved 5k of where they could get anywhere else. And there are boo koo dealers in this area so competition is a no brainer.
