jpooch00 - I would not worry about that. The engine number is simply a sequence - that is stamped on the block. My bet is - event with a new bike, those may not match (same applies to cars)

New engine came with my VIN stamped on it. Luckily it didn't come with the coolant loss problem.

what is the build date of all these bikes in question ? maybe a cut off date for having coolant problems?

Sorry, but you would lose that bet (Heck! I should have asked how much you were willing to bet first!).

The engine number matches a part of the VIN. That's how a person can tell if the original engine, or at least the original crankcases, is/are on the bike or not.

You've surely heard of vintage cars with "numbers matching" that are the most valuable.

And you are the winner! This is correct info above...engine code has to be traceable back to the vehicle VIN...
