Thanks all, just got back from a 3 plus hour ride to Mt Evans here in Colorado. It is not as hot today and at the elevation of Squaw Pass it was only in the high 60's. I was also two-up today. It did not happened as much in the cooler temp. Happened a few times when I may have been just below 2K RPM and torqued it a bit into an uphill curve.
I will check the headers when it cools and probably just take it in to be on the safe side.

I use the highest they sell here in Colorado. Don't want to through booster in it at this point either. It has not always down this either so......just going to drive it real mello until I get it looked at.
I also live here in Colorado the hot weather and high altitude will also make your bike ping worse the hotter the day is the higher you go up in altitude all part of it you need to keep your bike at higher RPMs this helps my bike a lot or you can do a stage1 with a good tune get rid of the cats youll run cooler.
I used swipe on my android phone to type the message. I guess I need to proof read before submitting. It had right instead of tight, eBay instead of exhaust, figure instead on finger, and rocking instead of knocking.
I've also noticed when I post from my phone instead of my computer it leaves off my signature.
Look on the bright side. At least it's not posting your name, address, dob and, s.s # ............................... Yet !
Makes sense as well. I wish I could put out the cash for the upgrade but that is not going to happen. Lucky to have the bike at all. Will see what the dealer says. Perhaps it will be just keeping the RPMs up a bit when it real hot. Since I just got this bike in April and haven't been through a hot summer yet I have nothing to compare with.
No disrespect or snarkiness (is that a word?) intended, but you ARE using the highest octane, top-teir gas you can get, aren't you?
I try to use Shell V-Power gas exclusively in mine and have never had a pinging issue.
For the record, I'm in Boulder CO and have ridden mine over the Divide many times, including some of those blistering-hot days that we've been having lately, without a problem.
If you're using the best gas available and still have the pinging issue, then I'd recommend that you have it looked at ASAP. Really violent detonation can blow a hole right through the top of the piston(s)!
