None taken. I too use Shell V-Power or Conoco of the same octane rating. Only the best for the HOG my friend!!
Damn right! Same here!
I'd get it checked out if I were you, then. If it's pinging with that gas, then there's something wrong that your dealer should be able to analyze and fix.
For the record, I keep mine well above 2500 RPM at all times when going up any kind of hill that matters, 3000+ RPM on the really steep ones, if that helps.
Have an appointment next week. I keep it in the 2500 range most of the time as well. My concern is that even at 3000-3500 when I accelerate hard from there it pings too. It still accelerates good. Doesn't miss or bog down.

Sounds to me like you're doing everything right.
Good luck getting it fixed and back on the road pronto!
So the dealer told me the pinging is what it is. It will happen on hot days especially at altitude. I guess I figured as much but wanted to make sure. He did proceed to tell me that a stage one upgrade would fix it........of course right! Anyway if I do anything I will install the fuel regulator mentioned here in this thread. Thanks all.
If you are not planning some serious mods FP3 will help even a stock bike and if you plan on changing few things you can modify the map anytime. Our both bike had little pinging here and there both are pretty stock with K&N HD1614 filter and FP3 made decent improvement without changing any hardware.
I know a guy who just took short rides and filled up every time before he went home and his Harley pinged. Well, if you're filling up at a pump that has only one long hose the first half gallon is going to be 87 octane 9 times out of ten. I always like to be the last Harley to fill up at the same pump. Just saying.

That make sense but most pumps these days have only on hose.
Update: I have decided to bite the bullet and go with the ThunderMax PN#309-562. It is on order and will be installed next Wednesday and mapped. I have an independent I work with that guarantees he can map it correctly and stop the ping and I guess will get better gas milage and better power. Hope this is a good unit, I am taking his word for it.

There's an old saying, "Buy the tuner your tuner likes". It means this is the tuner he's most comfortable with, probably had the best results with and greatest customer satisfaction.
I've had TMax on 5 touring bikes and they all ran great. Good luck!
Only way I could get ride of acceleration ping was by adding full to the map after auto tuning. I have the PV 2 and ended up adding 10 to mid and 3 to high. Getting 44.5 mpg. I'm sure a dyno tune would be the way to go.
