The trigger switch that controls the odometer, gear shift indicator/tach, trip odometer has gone bad. I was told by local dealer that there is a rash of these and the replacement parts are at least 3-4 weeks out on back order. Anyone else getting this word from dealer or even having this problem?
The trigger on my '15 SGS quit within the first 500 miles. I replaced the switches with the lighted version, bought online from New Castle HD. A month or so ago I noticed it wouldn't start in gear, clutch switch went bad. The replacement just came a couple of days ago, it was back ordered for about 3 weeks. Haven't installed it yet.
Bike is 6 months old with 10K miles, not a problem with the switch. Wife also has a 2015 with about 9400 miles and switch is fine. Both bikes have been on the road in numerous rain storms as well.
My clutch safety switch has been acting up (intermittent) for 7k miles (I have about 15k on my 14 road king) and finally just quit on way back from trip this weekend and I decided to stop in dealer Sunday since we were passing through anyway and my dash harness needs replacing too since my left turn and high beam led indicators have been out (not the lights themselves just the LEDs). So I'm chatting with the service writer and he says he'll fit me in this Monday to "troubleshoot" saying they must prove its bad for warranty then special order parts yada yada. I say fine until he says you can just leave the bike with us then til parts come in and we'll call you when done. My response was like hell I will. I told him I'll drop off Monday after work so they can troubleshoot then order parts but I'm picking it up Tuesday and the can call me when parts are available and I'll bring it back for 1 day only. Besides the closest dealer being 125mi. round trip for me I use it to commute 2-3 days a week and have some other trips planned. I told him I've heard too many folks waiting weeks for the back ordered parts since this is so common so I'm not letting them keep it that long. It bugs me but it is what it is and figure I'll get it fixed before warranty is up.
