drilling gets it very clean. you don't have to polish the inside of the pipe. it's a motorcycle not a dragster.

As I already had a PC5, the swap to a catless header made sense. In as close to comparable conditions as possible, my temperature gauge is 10 degrees cooler.... and it feels like more than that. I did change maps until I upgraded the cam, then I had it dyno'd. Bike runs great AND cooler.

I was going to decat my stock pipes with the ebay deals but spent the money on a good header. I don't notice any heat on my leg anymore and I live in the desert with summer riding in triple digit temps. I think everyone needs to get rid of their cat IMO. Better on the heat on the legs, better performance, and better sound. Definitely worth the effort of decatting or spending $400 on a header IMO. Best thing I have done to my bike so far! Don't know what the performance gain is with a decatted stock header vs. going with the S&S power tune dual header I have but I get great performance.

Had my dealer swap mine out for a de-catted set when I purchased the bike. They keep a few sets of stockers they had left over from folks that did a full exhaust swap out. They cut them, remove the cats and re-weld and keep them their shop. Charged $100 for the pipes and install.
