Default Motor options 120r

I have a 14 SGS and want a little extra power from the motor. I'm at 83hp and 103 tq. Talking to the service writer at the HD dealer about it and he suggested the 120 motor.
Anone running that motor on here? Its listed as a race motor. Is it reliable?
What other options are there? I just want a little extra passing power and power to come on low rpms.
Cams seem to raise the lower rpms that are usable.
Thanks

Before going the route of installing a 120R, You should consider some of the Fuel Moto options. They can work your present motor or go with a 107 build and do much better than a 120R and for a lot less as well.. Heck you're in Chicago, they arent that far away.

Default Had a 120r in 2008 CVO

I had a 120r installed in 2008 CVO. It was a nice engine and pulled very well. It did run very hot because it was only air cooled. This is one of the reasons I traded it for a 2015 ultra limited. One factor to consider is if you go to trade the bike you will loose money on the trade because it is classified as a racing engine and the dealer cannot offer an extended warranty on the engine.

I have a 2015 RGS with 120ST motor...

Good running motor and 50 state legal. Comes with 1 year warranty.

The ONLY difference between this 120ST and the 120R are:

120ST has 259E cams and 120R has 266e cams
Both have perfect fit pushrods except the 120R are =.030 over
120R comes with billet cam plate... 120ST does not.

She goes in for 1K service today and yet to have a tune ( running a base download )

She should come alive with a tune, but she is a beast already

Fuel moto was a consideration. I'm looking at options still. Not sure which way I want to go. I like the billet cam plate idea. I just want low to mid power gain that is usable on the street. It's a bagger, not really looking to race it. But passing at highway speeds is a main goal.
Thanks for the input and replies. I should call fuel moto for an idea.

Smile stage IV

i have a 2015 rgs ,had the dealer install the stageIV kit with v&h pipes& cfr mufflers, before i took delivery. This keeps the warranty. I'm happy with the increase in power& full warranty.

Not going to tell you which way to go but I LOVE my 2014 SGS 120R.

120R is soft at lower rpm's. In this sense the 120ST might be a better choice for MOST people's street riding. 120R is stronger 3000+ rpm.

I'm an old racer so my recommendation to you would be a 120ST.

Default motor options

Fuel moto's 107 Big Bore. Of course do the Stage One, but FM's Big Bore is dependable and reliable. Personally I wouldn't have HD's Screamin Eagle 110ci from just what I have read on this forum. Just my opinion. I love the 107. Power and torque down low, not at 4000 rpm. Who rides like that, anyway...all the time?

120ST and not looking back at all on my decision. Would do it all over again. Crate motor and a stage 1 doing 125 and 135. Still have cams and other upgrades for down the road.
